Following the success of the sellout show with Anomie, Four4 are proud to present the next instalment of their brand of dance music night. With quality sound & artists, top notch visuals and friendly vibes, you’re in for a great night out.
Moonbase Commander (Sydney/Wollongong)
Moonbase Commander is the alias of 23 year-old electronic producer, Nicholas B. Luke, based in Sydney, Australia. Combining Beats, Hip-Hop, Bass, and Footwork, Luke’s is a distinctively ‘heavy’ style ‘laced with swirling, arpeggiated synth lines and gloppy 808 beats’ (Max Mohenu, Pitchfork Music),
Hailing from Albion Park, Moonbase Commander is one the Wollongong music scene’s key exports, gaining recognition both nationally in Australia’s club & dance music scenes; and internationally for his forward-thinking production skills. His frequent collaborations with US rapper Cakes Da Killa especially have seen international attention focussed towards the up-and-coming producer, with Pitchfork Music recently bestowing their track ‘Serve It Up’ with ‘Best New Track’ status. One to watch out for.
Meare is a bass producer from Sydney whose eclectic interactions with music have brought about his multifaceted approach to layering genres and stylistic elements. The result is a sparkling amalgamation of Bass, Trap, Electronica and Chillwave. He has recently released a self titled EP which is downloadable via Bandcamp. Capturing the attention of the Sydney electronic scene, Meare connects with his audience by utilising highly emotive soundscapes within his dynamic live show.
Rokusaburo is the evil twin of Dean Benes, Wollongong DJ and one third of the Four4 crew. Drawing from whatever sounds good from anywhere in the world, from Japanese techno, hard hitting hip-hop, skittering Chicago footwork, sugar-coated pop to more experimental cuts, nothing is out of bounds in a Rokusaburo live set. Expect a mashup of colour and space, style and substance, brooding restraint and dance floor energy, all laid down with a healthy serving of bass.
